REMINDERS:

1. March 25th is now a day of school. Please mark your calendars. New March and April calendars were sent home last week. If you did not receive one, let me know.

2. I will be out for a conference on Monday, 3/21 and Tuesday 3/22 and Mrs. Albright will be the substitute fro me.

3. Please make sure that your child is doing their homework.I have started receiving too many excuses. They need to do their homework every night, that includes reader response.

4. Remember to bring in your used books for the sale. You have until the end of March. The first sale will be during the Pasta Dinner on April 2nd from 4-7pm. We have books from infants to adults.

5. Yearbooks are on sale for $25. You can order one until March 31st.

6. Rice bowls were sent home on Wednesday of last week. Make sure that you are trying to help others during this Lenten season.

1. Math-a-thon money is due no later than Friday, March 4th. Please make checks payable to St. Jude’s Children’s Research hospital.

2. I am collecting $5 for a gift for Mr. Saburro from each child. Please have it in no later than Wednesday, March 9th. his last day with us will be Friday, March 11th. We will have a celebration on that day and more information will follow.

Reminders:

1. Mr. Saburro the student teacher will be having his solo week the week after vacation. He will be teaching all subjects and also dealing with behaviors. I will still be in the room.

2. Please return the math-a- thon permission slips as soon as possible to me. If you are participating, you must solve the math problems online. The information is on the pledge form.

3. Rollerskating Fundraiser at Guptill’s. $3 admission fee is due by Friday 2/18. It is on Monday 2/21 from 12:30-4:00. I hope to see you all there.

4. I am asking for some more tissues, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes because we are running out quickly,wqith all of the colds in the class.

5. After vacation, we will be writing a response to the reading tht is done every night. I am asking for you to send in a composition notebook that they will be able to use for this assignment.

6. The volleyball game of teachers vs. 8th grade is on Friday 2/18 at 1:00. Come and support the fun.

Updates:

1. James Saburro, the student teacher from St. Rose will start on Wednesday. He will be with us until March. He is eager to learn and I am hoping that we can show him what Blessed Sacrament is all about.

2. The fifth grade will be hosting Mass on Thursday, 1/20 @ 9:00. We hope to see you there.

3. Next week on 1/25 and 1/26, I will be out of the classroom to be on a curriculum mapping committee for the Diocese. Mrs. Albright will be taking over my class for these two days. If there are any problems you can email them to me and I will answer them.

4. Parent conferences are coming up on the 10th of February. I will be sending home  a reminder of your time so that I am able to meet with you.  I cannot wait to speak with you as we get ready for the state tests coming up in May.

Updates:

1. Student teacher James Saburro will be starting with our class on January 19th. More information will follow.

2. Half day- Friday 1/7/11 dismissal at 11:30

3. January book orders are going home. They are due back Friday, January 14th. Please make checks payable to Scholastic book clubs or send in the exact amount of cash in an envelope.

4.Information about the 24/7 Let’s Go program was sent home Monday. We are trying to get the students eating healthier and becoming more active. These calendars are a way for you to help with this program.

5. Second grade is collecting items for the Humane Society this month. A letter was sent home on what they are in need of. Please send in items to support the 2nd grade service project and also the animals.

6. Next week , they will be taking their Unit 2 reading test. as soon as everything is graded I will send home an updated information sheet on how your child is performing in certain areas in reading.

7. The Holidays Around the World Projects were great! I am still grading the reports and adding in extra credit points. Everything else in posted on powerschool. I am hoping to have all the reports graded and inputted by Friday.

Reminders:

1. Fundraisers are due Monday, November 15th with the money. All checks are made payable to Blessed Sacrament School.

2. Report cards were sent home on Friday. Please sign the front envelope and return the envelope to school. You may keep the report card for yourself. If you would like to meet with me or you have  aconcern, please email me or send in a note to school.

3. Unit 2 Math test on Thursday. We will be reviewing all week and they will have  review packet with similar questions.

4. We have finished our first unit in Reading and we will be taking a unit 1 test throughout the week. We will start it Monday and it will continue through Thursday. I have broken it down into sections as not to overwhelm the students.

5. Picture Day is on Wednesday. Information packets will be coming home.

6. Dance – Friday, November 19th to support the Clow family. Malik is a student in our school who has undergone several surgeries. The Girl Scouts are holding this dance to raise money for the family.

7. We are studying immigration in Socail Studies. If your family has some information or artifacts they woulod like to share with our class we would appreciate it. Also, if you would like to share a family experience with the class, we would  enjoy it.

8. The students enjoyed the field trip to the Book House. They especially enjoyed the presentation by the author. This was a great experience for them. We wrote thank you notes to Lynn Derry who gave us this opportunity and she also purchased the b0oks for the students.

9. Next week we have school Monday and Tuesday. We have several activities planned and we cannot forget the whole school turkey dinner on Tuesday. There will be  a prayer service and also several presentations done by classes. More information to follow with the events from 5th grade.

10. Thank you to all of the families who donated for the food pantry, Equinox and also the Freedom Boxes for the troops. My class never ceases to amaze me. They are willing to help out everyone.

11. Nursery and Prek-1 and Prek-2 will be collecting baby items for the month of December for Mary’s Corner. The items need to be new and think of any item babies may need. We again need your help for a good cause.

Reminders:

1. We are collecting cans of Cranberry sauce for the food pantry and the Equinox Thanksgiving dinner. Please send in by Friday, November 12th. I am giving the students money for bringing in items. (fake money for incentive)

2. Book orders are due Tuesday, November 9th. I will hopefully have one more before Christmas break so remember for gifts or just for your children to enjoy. If you need help choosing a book for your child, let me know.

3. We are selling for our fundraiser. Please help out our school by selling. Students get prizes based on the number of items sold, not the amount of money. Please collect the money with the order and they are due Monday, November 15th. Happy selling!

4. On Wednesday, 4th and 5th grade will be taking a trip to the Book House in Stuyvesant Plaza to meet an author and get a signed copy of his book. Please send in the permission slip if you have not already done so. Your child will not be able to attend if he/she does not have  a permission slip.

5. We are also collecting for the troops. Remember all that they have done for us and our country. They risk their lives for us everyday. We need to think of them at this time of year and throughout the year.

6. November 17th is Picture Day. Details and forms will be sent home soon.

7. November 19th the Girl Scouts are hosting a fundraising dance for all ages to raise money for Malik Clowe a student in our school who has undergone surgery recently. More information will follow.

8. We have started the second quarter and report cards should be coming home at the end of the week or early next week. We are focusing on getting organized and concentrating during lessons.

Reminders:

1. The marking period will be ending on Monday, November 1st. We will be sending report cards home soon. I will let you know when as soon as I know.

2. Scholastic book orders are due by November 9th. We have entered a reading contest and when each student reads 10 books, Scholastic will donate books to kids in need. This is a good way to help us out. Also, books make great Christmas or holiday gifts. If you would like some suggestions, let me know and I will be able to help you. Also, if you would like it kept a secret then I can also do that for you.

3. Please make sure that you are signing the reading logs, so that your child gets credit for doing it. i collect the reading logs and file them so we can keep tracjk of how much your child has read.

4. Please do not allow your child to bring candy to school or soda for a snack. They may have soda at lunch, but I prefer that they do not bring in candy. If your child is thirsty throughout the day, I do allow them to have  a water bottle at their desk. Our classroom can be hot or cold so I encourage your child to dress in layers.

5. We are kicking off our fundraiser on Monday, November 1st. Please encourage your child to sell. we have some new and yummy treats to sell. The information will be going home on monday. If you have any questions, feel free to call the school or email me.

6. There is no school on Thursday, November 11th due to Veteran’s Day.

7. We will be doing dome activities this month for Thanksgiving. Also, there will be a christmas Around the world project that we will be starting in order to celebrate others traditions for the holidays.

8. Everyday after lunch, one student from our class will be reading to Ms. Jane’s Prek class. We are doing this to take the place of Grandma Betty reading to the class. Every child will be assigned a day and must get their book approved and also he/ she must practice it before their day.

We just finished Island of the Blue Dolphins. We are reading aloud the sequel called Zia. We will be taking our final test on the book and watching the movie to compare it to the book.

Reminders:

1. All grades are up to date on powerschool. Some writing grades are not posted because the students are not yet finished. When they are graded, I will put them in. Thanks for your patience with this matter.

2. Island of the Blue dolphins test on Wednesday of this week. We have been reviewing and a study guide will be sent home on Tuesday that  we have already gone over and they should have the correct answers on.

3. I have been keeping this weeks activities a secret for this week. I have told them that they will be painting pumpkins for a contest and playing games. They need to bring their costumes to school, NOT to wear them to school. We will change later after lunch. PLease bring in any goodies that you have signed up for in the morning. I am looking forward to the end of this week and the start of November.

4. Please be safe and have fun trick or treating on sunday. Do not bring your candy to school because I will take it from you. Candy is not an acceptable snack.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with the Family Festival with donations for the basket, bake sale, and selling the raffle tickets. Your help is appreciated.

2. Afterschool  clubs have started and students are not allowed to stay for a club unless they have a signed permission to do so.

3. Science 6 will be having a unit test on classifying organisms on Tuesday 10/26. There will be review in the classroom and also a study guide.

4. Island of the Blue dolphins test on Wednesday 10/27. There will be review an ddiscussion in class as well as a study guide.

5. Please make sure that your child is reading and you are signing their sheet. Any type of reading is fine, whether it is reading the comics, magazines, newspaper or reading to a younger child. The more we read the more fluent we become.

6. Interim Reports have gone out and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me via email and also with a note.

7. Grades will be posted soon on powerschool for the quarter. We were advised of this right before the letters went out, so I will be working on getting everything in this week.

8. Halloween parade on October 29th at 1:00. Parents are welcome to watch the children parade around the school, but the class party is for students only. I have sent home a sign up for children to bring in goodies to share, if you did not get one or would like to donate something to the class just let me know. I will let you know if someone has already volunteered to bring it in. Children are to bring their costumes to school and we will change  after lunch, before the parade.
