Reminders:
* Friday, October 7th is a half day of school- dismissal @ 11:30
* Monday, October 10th- No School Columbus Day
* Please sell those raffle tickets for the Family Festival. For every book you sell your child will get a dress down day.
* If you have not signed up to work for your 2 hour spot for the Family Festival, please call school and let them know what time is good for you. We need your help.
* Theme basket items are due no later than October 12th. If you cannot bring in a dog supply, please send in $3 and I will get the items to fill the basket.
* We will be making something on Wednesday 10/5. Please send in 3 apples by Wednesday. I will provide the other ingredients.
* Virtus Training at Blessed Sacrament School on Tuesday, 10/4 @ 6:30.

Last week was very busy and I hope things start to slow down. We will not be cooking this week, but will be doing it next week. Art classes start this week.
Some students are not handing in theri reading logs signed.They count as part of your homework. later in the year there will be journal entries to go along with your reading. Get in the habit of doing it now.

* Sat. 9/24 Applebees Breakfast 8-10am- tickets on sale at school for $6 a ticket. it is a fundraiser in order to help bring in events for the students. Come show your support. I will be there serving the food.

* We have started collecting items for the theme basket for fifth grade. Our theme is Dogs.Please send in items for the basket. If you are not able to send in items, please give $3 and I will purchase items for the basket.Please have all items in by October 12th.
* The 6th- 8th graders are collecting food items for the Food Pantry. Please have all items in by September 30th.

There have been lots of changes and I want to keep you up to date.
Our schedule has changed and Gym will be on Tuesday and Friday. A new schedule will be going home for you.
Parent’s Night- Wed. 9/21 @7pm. I hope I will see you there.

9/24- Applebees Fundraiser 8-10am. Tickets are $6. They are pre-sale only. Please send in money as sson as possible. Come and enjoy everyones company over breakfast.

Family Festival:
1. Our basket this year will be for dogs. Please send in supplies as soon as possible. If you do not want to send something in , please send in at least $3 so that I can purchase items for the basket. PLease send in items before October 12th so that I have time to put the basket together.
2. Raffle tickets were sent home today. For every book sold your child will get a dress down day. First prize is $1000. Take a chance for $1.

If you have not been getting the homework emails, it is because I do not have a working email for you. If you want an email please provide a working email.
The students received their planners today. They should have their homework written in and my initials will be next to it.
Summer Reading Book report- the students have been working on it in class, but they need to do some work at home. They have the information and it is due Monday, 9/19.

First week!

First week!

We had a fabulous first week and we are gearing up for an exciting second week. I have done some baseline testing in ELA and Math, along with a running record. I will be letting you know if your child will be attending remedial reading or Title I. There are several upcoming events. I have sent out an email to test if I have the correct email address. Some of them did not deliver and I will be talking to your child on Monday.
Monday 9/12- Opening School Year Mass @10:00, please join us if you are able to.
Wednesday 9/21- Parent’s Night @ 7:00, come and meet your child’s teacher
Saturday 9/24- Home School Association Applebee’s Fundraiser Breakfast from 8-10 am. Come support your school and have some fun spending time with other families. Tickets are on pre-sale for $6 a ticket. Tell your friends, family, and neighbors.

Homework starts this week and you will be getting an email from me. Agendas have been ordered for the students, but are not in yet.

Only a few more days until school starts. The classroom is ready and waiting your arrival. I am very excited about this year. I know it will be a lot of work, but also fun. Just an update on the start of school.

Thursday, September 8th- starts full days, afterschool starts this day

If you are an out of district student please make sure that you have your books.

Hello to my new students and their families. I am looking forward to a great year. I have sent home a supply list and a reading list. Please choose a book from the list or a chapter book of your choice to read over the summer. We will be doing a project and report based on your book. If you have any questions or concerns, you may email me at anytime. My email address is on the letter.
I will also be teaching 6th grade science and 6th grade math.
Sister Debbie will be teaching 5th grade religion this year.
Here is the supply list for 5th grade:
7 composition notebools (no spiral notebooks)

Three- ring binder(not a trapper keeper, just one plain binder)

We have started reading Bridge to Terabithia. We will be reading together and answering questions and going over vocabulary. At the end of reading the book, we will watch the movie and compare the movie and the book.

Reminders/ Updates:

1. Friday April 1st is a half day. Dismissal at 11:30.

2. Saturday April 2nd- Pasta Dinner 4-7pm in the school gym

3. Used Book Sale- Sat. 4/2 @ Pasta Dinner from 4-7pm and Mon. 4/4 8:30-3;00 in the library. We need volunteers to help on Saturday night and if any parents are willing to help out on Monday during the day, it would be greatly appreciated. Sheet to come home for you to sign up if you are interested.

4. The quarter ends on April 8th-please make sure that all homework and tests are made up before then.

5. Barnes and Noble Bookfair on April 13th from 3:30-7:30 at Colonie Center. You can also order online during this week. There is an ID number for you to input when you cash out that will give the credit to the school. if you need it, I will be sending home information next week.

6. Please make sure that your child is to school on time and also is here everyday. We are reviewing skills for the state test which we take the first 2 weeks of May.
